Jinkee joins Manny in LA

Manny Pacquiao’s wife, Jinkee, flew to Los Angeles (LA) to be with her husband as the pound-for-pound king winds up his final week of training at the Wild Card Gym.

Jinkee hasn’t seen her hubby for the past two weeks since he moved his camp to the US.

She said she misses Manny despite their daily long-distance telephone conversations.

“Araw-araw, morning at saka gabi… hindi kumpleto ang araw kung walang tawag,” said Jinkee.

Jinkee said she could not bring along their children, who have to attend school in the Philippines.

The couple immediately kissed when they met at the airport.

The two then rode Manny's Mercedes sports car all the way to their LA home.

She said she wants to see her husband, who is training for the November 13 fight against Mexican 3-time world champion Antonio Margarito.

Jinkee is confident that Manny can pull off a win over the 5’11” Tijuana Tornado.

Arum happy over Reid’s win

Meanwhile, Manny’s promoter, Bob Arum of Top Rank Inc., is happy with US Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s victory in the recent US mid-term elections.

Arum said Manny should get a lot of credit in helping Reid get re-elected in the State of Nevada.

The Filipino boxer publicly endorsed the US Democrat senator in a political rally last week, convincing Filipino-Americans and Hispanics to vote for Reid.

“Reid's victory was a result of tremendous support from both the Hispanic and Filipino communities… He rolled up with those two groups, carried him (Reid) through, so I think Manny has to get a lot of credit in backing Sen. Reid,” said Arum, who is one of the senator's supporters.

Reid banked on Pacquiao's celebrity status as seen in the Filipino boxer's sellout crowds whenever he fights in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Pacquiao is a legislator himself, having been elected as the lone representative of the province of Sarangani.

Pacman helps another US candidate

Pacquiao, for his part, said he also helped veteran US Democrat Jerry Brown win as California governor in the midterm elections.

"I also helped Brown here (in California). I helped him campaign. I gave a message to the Filipino community to support Gov. Brown, and they did." Pacquiao told Los Angeles Times.

Brown, who already served as the state’s governor from 1975 to 1983, will succeed "Governator" Arnold Schwarzenegger after defeating Republican Meg Whitman. -- With a report from Dyan Castillejo, ABS-CBN
