MANILA, Philippines — In preparing for the biggest fight of his life, Antonio Margarito stays away from carbo-loading and consumes a diet low in fat and calories, the Mexican slugger wrote in his diary for ESPN.
“We have a lady that cooks for us,” said Margarito, who meets pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao on November 13 in Dallas.
“She takes care of me and cooks all kinds of foods, but always low in calories. I don’t have limitations. I eat anything but it has to be low in fat and calories,” said the 5-11 Margarito.
Margarito has been camping out with chief trainer Robert Garcia in Oxnard, California, the last three weeks after spending the initial phase of his buildup in Los Angeles.

Pacquiao and Margarito have agreed on a catch weight of 150 lbs, which will have as prize the World Boxing Council super-welterweight title.
In contrast, Pacquiao consumes a diet rich in carbohydrates and protein since he is fighting for the first time beyond the welterweight class of 147 lbs.
