TAGAYTAY CITY, Philippines (PNA) — President Benigno Simeon C. Aquino III wants career guidance classes taught to elementary school children to ensure that they make the right career decisions as adults in the future.
In his speech at the Public Employment Service Office’s 10th National Congress at the Taal Vista Hotel here Friday, the President said the Departments of Education, Labor and Employment as well as the Professional Regulation Commission have to study how to integrate career guidance in the curriculum of schools.
“Naniniwala ako na ang paghubog sa tamang disiplina sa paggawa ay kailangan nating simulan sa mga bata habang sila’y nasa murang edad pa lamang,” the President said.
The President further said that the Commission on Higher Education and the Technical Education and Skills Development Administration should look into amending the current curriculum in the secondary and tertiary levels to be more relevant to a student’s skill level.
“Sa pagtutulungan ng TESDA at CHED, rerepasuhin din po natin ang ating curriculum upang maging akma ang pagsasanay at kakayahan na hinahanap ng mga industriya,” the President said.
